Gurkha migrants 'leave services struggling'...
Gopal Tumchha saw this story on the BBC News website and thought you should see it.
And this...  and this...and this

In response to 'The Gurkhas in Aldershot - Little Nepal'

I have been very instrumental in the Gurkha fight for what they deserve. I was the 'mystery woman' who suggested to Gurkha Justice Campaigner Peter Carroll that he should involve Joanna Lumley. To blame her for what has happened is unutterably ridiculous. Governments make policies, not actresses.

If the real issues were addressed ie fair pensions for these amazing people then I am sure this influx would not be happening and these honest, loyal and proud people would be happy to stay in their beloved Nepal. I have met MANY Gurkhas and their families and I can honestly say that NOT ONE WANTS SOMETHING FOR NOTHING, unlike so many who have been - and still are - allowed to invade our country. The Gurkhas are people who are prepared to fight for what is right and many, many do with very little finance to help them along. I say they are a living testament to integrity and honour and many, many people in this country could take a leaf out of their book

Gurkha who single-handedly fought off up to 30 Taliban awarded Gallantry Cross

GURKHA soldiers serving at Blandford Camp are among those who have been told they could be made redundant. The Government is bidding to shed 150 Gurkha posts among 1,000 redundancies from the Army, and 17,000 across the MoD.

Five Gurkhas are competing to become Assistant Director of Music for the Band Brigade of Gurkhas. The successful candidate will also be commissioned. The five were tested on their musical ability and leadership skills - GOOD LUCK!!

FROM PETER CARROLL

Dear Gopal Kumar Rai
Thank you for your support for our campaign to Save the Gurkha Regiment.  The recently announced round of cuts in the Armed Forces seem to have hit all branches of the Forces.  There were rumours that the Gurkhas might face massive cuts, even abolition in total!  Mercifully, the cuts to the Gurkhas will result in a reduction of about 150.  This was better than we feared, but in our view these cuts will still be damaging. We believe it is wrong to cut any part of the Armed Forces when they are constantly being asked to do more and more in a world that seems ever more unstable.  We support every branch of the Armed Forces and support moves to resist such cuts.  However, the team here have a long term relation with the Gurkhas and feel that they have fewer voices to support them than many other regiments – hence our campaign.  Please tell your friends and contacts about the Campaign.  I suspect that we haven’t seen the last of the cuts.
Best wishes

Peter Carroll
